Holiday Image Countdown Day 4

So you may be wondering where I got all of these postcards. I got them at the flea market. I go so often that several vendors look for things for me. Many of them know about the site and love to know they are helping artist. So they give me a good price. I got most of these in a scrapbook book full of over 200 vintage postcards. The vendor gave it to me for very little so you all could enjoy them.

Holiday Image Countdown Day 3

Today I have scanned a few children postcards for you. They are so cute and have wonderful Christmas outfits. I hope you are loving all of these vintage postcards as much as I. It is amazing to me that they have lasted over 100 years. These two had a few stains I was able to repair but other than that they are perfect.

Holiday Image Countdown Day 2

Day 2 and counting. I have two lovely ladies for you today. I just love the vibrant colors in these vintage postcards. They are both from the early 1900's. I love reading the backs of the cards, though I do feel a little like I am invading a long ago person's privacy. Enjoy them and don't forget if you make something with one I will post it here on the site.

Guest Designers

So several of you have so graciously volunteered to help me make some easy card tutorials for Christmas cards using vintage Christmas images. My dilemma is finding the time to scan, schedule and pre send to everyone the images in advance. I really need to do it in the next week if I am going to do it. So I haven't forgotten you. I am just trying to figure everything out.

Getting Ready for the Christmas Countdown

So I am getting ready for the Christmas Image Countdown and I have been looking at lots of vintage Christmas images deciding what to post. Here is a card I created last year using this image. The stamps are by Fancy Pants. I still laugh when I hear that name. The ink is Olympia Green Versafine. I just love the richness of the green ink. The center of the card was cut out with a Nestabilities circle and then a circle of the image was placed on the page behind it.

SIB 109

Well last week at the flea market I got lots of great vintage images to last us throught the winter. There are only 2 more flea markets this year. So I was in a buying mood. I got several old clothing sewing pattern booklets. These booklets have lots of old clothing drawings. I also found a whole bunch of Children's Activity Magazines. I had never heard of this one but it looks like a precurser to Highlights and even has the old Gufus and Gallant comic. Another magazine is called School Arts and had lots of great international vintage images. Most of the magazines were from the 30's or earlier. So lots of great images that I can't wait to share. I will be starting my Christmas countdown soon. I just have to start scanning all the great images I found for Christmas this year. Oh and did I tell you I need to make 200 holiday cards? When will I find all this time?
Please leave a comment if you stop by as sometimes I wonder if anyone is even looking at all these images. It is good to know you are out there. Plus I love to follow the link back to your blog and see all your beautiful creations. Thank you.
Well, this week I thought I would give you all a break from holiday images and share some images are from one of my new pattern booklets. These drawing are from 1939. As always feel free to use any of the images on my website in your artwork but please do not post or sell the original image on the web in a group or collection.

Looking for Some Designers

Well, I have been toying with the idea of doing a twelve easy holiday card tutorial. This year has been so hectic that my card list seems enormous. I'm sure all of you feel the same way. I've been looking at the card I posted below and thinking wouldn't it be great to have a whole bunch of easy cards like this one. I could still send out a homemade card but not go crazy thinking of ideas or finding time. I will need twelve volunteers to design simple 10 minute cards using a vintage christmas image I would provide. I would showcase the card on this blog along with the image. The designer would then have a tutorial on their site on how to make the card. I just need to find the time to scan all the images, organize the list and make a card of my own. So everyone let me know what you think and if any of you are interested in being a designer please let me know. If you take this assignment it will be a pretty quick turn around as the holidays are quick approaching.

A Few More Vintage Thanksgiving Postcard

Here are just a few more postcards from the early 1900's. Soon I will be starting a Vintage Christmas Countdown for all of you who make their own cards. So keep an eye out.
